I’m going to say something very crude - I think welfare reform & cuts has turned into very high stakes - one party (disabled community or reeves/kendall/other related ministers) will pay a very dear personal price depending on how plans are received and level of backlash

I don’t have much faith in the disabled community putting up a significant fight however I’ve noticed on social media more and more are getting on the same page and declaring their intent not to roll over this time

There’s a saying to not to approach a wounded animal (as they are more likely to bite)

We are not too dissimilar to those poor bats and newts reeves doesn’t care will lose their homes for the sake of ‘progress’ - about time we show her that she is stupid to forget that wounded animals can cause much injury if they feel threatened

the thing is that the disabled community has some of the smartest ppl in the country in their ranks - reeves and Kendall have said some mind boggling daft things/ideas these past few months and can be ‘outwitted’ in their quite frankly poor arguments

On the other hand it only takes one spooked wilderbeast (not the smartest of creatures/a prey animal) to start a stampede

I do however think the community need to start thinking more outside the box then writing to their own mp only and only chatting with disabled on the scope forum - it’s unfair that all this is only high stakes for disabled ppl……especially if you consider that if even 20% of disabled ppl (and their family/carers) did a strategic protest vote next general election many Labour MPs would lose their seats

Taste of one’s own medicine comes to mind

I’m also reading that Ed davey embarrassed liz Kendall yesterday in pmqs

I know many of you don’t like davey but he’s a definite disability ally and the only real alternative vote currently available next ge (voting reform would be crazy - hope greens would agree to an election pact and/or we get a new central leaning party in the next couple of years)

my mistake for bringing up the Lib Dem’s - should of remembered many disabled ppl are stubborn in not forgiving the Lib Dem’s for the coalition where they may of had their first taste of power but certainly weren’t in the drivers seat

Reform apparently are in poll position to win the next ge and they only have 5 MPs

If you look over to France macron was in charge of a newly formed party when he first became president

It’s a long way till next GE in 2029 but the tories haven’t been forgiven for the past 15 years (and kemi is just nuts) and Labour seem intent on losing support across uk social groups (and starmers not popular)

I know the status quo is a solid Labour vs tories for decades now but if a shake up of uk political parties happens it will be in the build up to the next GE - I don’t think you can count any party out (disabled ppl should not stay at home and we are limited in voting options………I even think the Green Party could do well as they ran 2nd in many seats last election)
