Change of circumstances ?

Hello
I have been awarded pip on both daily living and moving around. I have a compressed disk in my back causing nerve pain along with arthritis in my spine. My consultant wants to try nerve block injections.
My question is, should I let DWP know, is it classed as a change of circumstances? The consultant says if it helps it may last a few weeks to a few months. I'm worried that if I contact DWP they will think I am out of pain and take pip off me and if the injection doesn't work at all, I will have to start the whole horrible pip assessment process again.
Thanks

No, for a change of health condition it must have been present for at least 3 months and be expected to last at least a further 9 months.

Poppy I am.in similar boat with my wife who has a a catastrophic brain injury and has the maximum award..if she has neuropathy and can't walk at all now..its been building since covid and I tell PIP will they reassess completely...I'm nervous about that

As she already receives the highest award possible then there's no changes to report, even if her conditions have got worse. This is because it doesn't matter how many more points she could score, she can't receive a higher award than she already has.

Thanks Poppy. I am sorry, I'm not sure I made myself clear. I got awarded pip for many health issues, one being my back problem. Since the award was given, my consultant wants to give me nerve block injections for the back pain. If it makes me feel better for a few months does that mean I need to tell DWP that my condition has improved? The injection should help for a while but I have arthritis in my back so it will never really go away.
Hope I've been a bit clearer
Thanks

Your question was clear to start with and my advice remains the same. You do not need to report this for the reasons I advised in my first comment.

Thank you. I really don't understand the system or what the descriptors really mean. I took it that if something made you feel better you have to report it. To be honest I feel paranoid and guilty doing anything haha
Thanks again Poppy

You're welcome. Basically, what I'm saying is that not all changes need to be reported. If we reported every single change then reviews would be constant and the backlogs would be even longer than they already are.
Changes should only be reported if your entitlement to PIP changes and with an injection in your spine like you're having is unlikely going to change the way your conditions affect you in the longer term…more than 9 months. It may help for a short time but longer, most likely not. I had one exactly the same quite a few years ago and it's worked for a couple of weeks and after that it was same old, same old. I never had another one after that.
Please note, I'm not giving medical advice, just my own personal experience and everyone is different. I'm also just trying to explain that not all changes need to be reported.

Thank you Poppy
I shall give it a try but I don't really hold out much hope tbh.

I am 79 nearly 80 how do they think you will get better after oesto and rheumatic arthritis for years I have cervical spondylitis also I can hardly walk only with 2 sticks and they won't give me with mobility what's the world coming to.

Its not because they think you will get better.
Its because you are above state pension age you don't qualify for mobility component unless you were already in receipt of it at the point of retirement.
