Housing needs form
hi all , not been on in ages as not been too good .
I finally got a housing needs form from council and they’ve given me a case worker from council too ( don’t know what they do ?) I’ve got MH issues and I’ve had pulmonary embolisms a couple of times , probably due to mental health and I’m on life long blood thinners now .
I share a flat and really struggle to share when my MH is bad coz of dysregulation , so I’m just looking for my banding to be reassessed ( I’m currently in lowest band and have been for 8 years and could never bid ) so I can maybe get a 1 bedroom for myself.
is it worth putting down my physical health problems ( PEs ) ?
I have been hospitalised for PEs and on psychiatric unit , do I just mention everything on this form and include all my meds ( 7 a day ) I was under eating disorder clinic last year but became suicidal so was discharged back to CMHT and see a psychiatrist and psychologist . Shall I just mention everything ? Really stressed about it all .

You need to make sure you tell them about all of your health conditions and how they affect you. Also include information about living with other people and how that affects your mental health.
For your physical conditions if you live in anything other than a ground floor flat and there's stairs to walk up, this may help you.
If you haven't already you can also refer yourself for a needs assessment because this can also help. It helped me a great deal when I needed to move house for physical reasons and I'm certain that if it wasn't for my OT at the time, I probably wouldn't have got the house I currently live in.

ok thanks poppy , I’ve quite quite a few discharge letters from hospital because of my PEs and MH , some date back to 2017 and some from last year . Shall I just send them everything ?

also , will these housing needs people want to come to my place and see me ? I dont think I’d like them here .

I received the form by email, im not sure if I should send back via email with pics of my supporting letters etc, council have ccd the caseworker to

As it was received through email, you should be able to return it this way, along with any evidence you have. When I received that form it was by post so that's how I returned mine.

Hey @letitbe, how are you doing today? I was wondering, have you informed the case worker that you are struggling with filling in the forms? Since they have given you a case worker, it may be worth asking if there is any support they could possibly give to help you with filling in the forms?

thanks Jimm , that’s actually a good idea, I’m gonna try and get it done by the end of next week. I’m just scared if I ask case worker for help they’ll want to come around to my room and I don’t want anyone in my space .

Would arranging to meet your case worker elsewhere help/be possible?
Could be their office or somewhere public like a quiet corner of coffee shop or library.

thanks Kimmy87 the trouble is I don’t trust any of these people , even my psychiatrist deliberately tried to destabilise me last week and caused me a massive amount of distress that I wasn’t able to stop crying for almost 2 days.
I have an appointment this week to see someone I trust that might be able to help me.0 -

Good luck, when I filled in one of these forms, the council went against the recommendation of not one but two OT's to deny me, my council is one of the worst affected by the housing crisis so wasnt surprising.

I’m expecting the same thing . Did you appeal and get priority in the end ?

I wasnt allowed to appeal. 😐️ Also in my area, its not just about priority, its to even get on the register in the first place. The crisis is so bad here, you cant get on the register anyway near as easily as other LA's. I am on the register in my neighbouring LA, but cant get on it in my current LA. In my neighbouring LA I just needed a local link to the area and I could get added, in my area, you need to either be homeless, have deemed medical needs, or another special category like ex army.

trying to get social housing is almost impossible these days , I fully expect to be completely rejected
