Great that you sent an email regarding the psychiatrist- sometimes these people get things so wrong and it causes more damage. He’s probably figuring out how best to respond. You should ask for a second opinion - it’s within your rights to ask . Did he give you any diagnosis?

I’m diagnosed with an eating disorder and a personality disorder, took a while for me to get to grips with the personality disorder because MH teams like to use it against you as a “ we can’t help you because it’s too deeply ingrained “

I’ve had issues with them for a while now - I ended up on a psychiatric ward because of them and they still lied while I was on the ward . They all stick together and protect each other when they’ve done wrong

tbh I think they actually make me worse and I absolutely hate dealing with them - I think I’ll be discharged soon and it’s probably a good thing for me

I had an eating disorder for 30 years but don't anymore.was anorexic and bulimic. One psychiatrist diagnosed me with a personality disorder but it was disputed and overuled to anxiety and depression ( mixed).I think psychiatrists can and do make diagnostic mistakes.Thats not to say they have in your case necessarily. This one I spoke to for 26mins was basically going off old notes from 20 years ago.I told him about these miss diagnosis ( which he seemed too keen on knowing about).I have read up enough now over the past 20 years to know that I don't fit into this.I may verge on the manic at times and definitely lose the sense of reality which is of concern but at present that's me.It sounds like you have a team of 3 involved in your care from your initial thread?

Ultimately you need to decide what your end goal is.What is best for you.If a certain behavior or way we try and explain our point is not getting over. Then try a different approach.Maybe try writing a letter to the team explaining that you feel misjudged ( if that's how you feel),that you'd like to be treated like A.B.C and if you don't agree with a decision perhaps you could put forward an alternative or be given some time to think of suggestions

I absolutely agree that they can get it wrong and miss diagnose a lot. A lot of people with BPD can be diagnosed with bipolar and vice versa, it took about 6 months of regular therapy and seeing a psychotherapist / clinical psychologist and psychiatrist for them to say “ you have BPD “ TBH I’d hardly even heard of it but when they gave me stuff to read loads of things made sense because I’d battled things since I was a child .
the eating disorder is still quite bad for me , I always knew I had an eating disorder coz the massive issues I had with food and body image .

While your actively thinking of positive ideas you are actually exercising your brain and keeping it healthy

They wanted me to go on voluntary and I said absolutely not . You’re treated like a criminal- ignored by all nurses and not allowed out at all - terrrible !

There’s also a really strong connection between eating disorders and personality disorders , a lot of people diagnosed with one will have the other as co - morbid , not saying that was you but I think it’s me for sure .
I really hope you get the support u want and need

I do feel better that they removed it yes only because I know I don't have a personality disorder in the same way I don't have a broken leg or 3 arms.If they said I had elements of mania which could be of great concern I'd have to agree with them. For example I've attempted suicide years ago 3 times but only once was a true attempt ( the very 1st one).I realise that now.I also know that if I was going to do it in the future I wouldn't tell a dr but I would just do it.That is why I'm absolutely terrified and it's led me to seek this help now.I don't want my son to cope growing up in care as we have no other family. But this wouldn't or didn't enter my mind back around Sept time.So it's very scary. This is why I'm desperate for help.I don't know what your circumstances are but there is always a reason to fight

they put me on the worst acute ward in the hospital - people beating each other up / fights / blood / drugs etc . Nurses watching and write notes about u constantly. Nothing to do but walk up and down the corridor all day long - food was really good though
