edited February 20 in Universal Credit (UC)

I was on esa and in the suport group as I'm disabled my partner was on mine and we had housing benefit I getbthe highest pip. Now im a pensioner we've both had to go on universal credit as a mixed age.

All we get of universal credit is 86 pounds a month because my partner is my carer no help with rent in a council house that's 520 per month.

To hurt even more myself had to get a fit note of doctor and keep surpling them until I get the UC50 Form to fill out so they can decide if I can work or not is this right anybody

If you were on ESA support group then it should transfer to LCWRA. You can put a note on the UC journal to say that you were on ESA support group and then you won't need to supply the fit notes anymore. I transferred from tax credits and that's what I did. I don't think that you should have to do another WCA. Maybe try and get hold of Citizens Advice Bureau and see what advice they give you.

Mixed age couple claims are very complex, I'd suggest you get some expert advice.

    Hi Fluffypink,

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. I didn't think if you were receiving ESA and in the support group that you had to switch over to UC.

I'm sorry I don't have anything to say to help you, but I would certainly seek someone that can help you.

Hope everything works out for you.

I was ESA Support Group, and migrated a few weeks ago. Now getting UC monthly, and New Style ESA fortnightly.

Being in the Support Group doesn't matter in terms of migration.

ESA Income Related, ESA IR + Contributions Based, ESA CB + another legacy benefit will all migrate over to UC. Any ESA CB will transfer automatically to New Style ESA and be paid outside of Universal Credit.

I think your getting mixed up Kimmy, new style ESA is contribution related and as far as I'm aware those that receive this don't migrate to UC

We are both right. If you currently get New Style ESA then that itself doesn't migrate to UC.

Legacy ESA is either Income Related, Contribution Based or both.

I outlined the circumstances where that CB ESA would change into New Style ESA as part of the UC migration process.

I myself was claiming ESA made up of both IR & CB when I changed to Universal Credit🙂

I was on esa in support group didnt have to work my partner was on my esa. Because I retired 26/11/1958 we had a.benift adviser he said we are a mixed age and have to go on Universal credit that is how our government are doing it. Everyone one will go over to universal credit alot of benifts are stopping

He filled in our universal credit form did say im getting the high rate of pip. We have no housing benift it stopped universal credit give us 86 .18 per month 21.50 per week because of my pension and partner gets carar allowance so now iv got to supply fit notes then when uc50 form comes fill it out. It's all wrong. Don't think benift adviser put on my form I was in support group.

I'd recommend making a formal complaint online, stating that you transferred from ESA SG but haven't been given LCWRA automatically and are having to go through the WCA process from scratch again.

If you are on cb esa only you will not be migrated, but if you are on any esa and another legacy benefit ie housing benefit then you will be migrated to uc. If you are on the support group and migrate to uc without a break then you should be placed in the lcwra and do not need to supply fit notes or have to complete another wca. Anyone who is told otherwise need to tell there work coach that the law is clear and they need to comply. Maybe talk a citizen advice member or even get your member of parliament involved. Hope this helps.
