My challenges as an amputee took time

My challenges as amputee took time. It was not easy at first being in the dumps I was in the US Marines on my 3rd tour in Iraq when I was shot in the lower left leg twice. It did hurt and I fell when it happened laying there saying my left leg. Doctors said chances the lower left leg had to go finding major damage. It was confirmed at a military hospital in Germany where the amputation happened. I was in the dumps at first and got over it with my family and friends including local veterans encouraging me. Plus help from one organization that helps wounded veterans, veterans with ptsd and anxiety including sex crimes. They helped my family out too. The VA was not helpful at first, got the message after seeing a lawyer. Best part was getting my prosthetic legs, one with a stationary foot and the other with an adjustable foot. I have good life having my own shop fixing vehicles, semi trucks and heavy equipment and being a great mom to a 16 year old son that sees me as a normal mom

Hi JackieLynn you sound like an amazing person, I’m so glad you managed to overcome the hurdles of confronting being an amputee. Also to have your own business and bringing up a child that is now a well adjusted teenager you are an inspiration to all of us coping with various disabilities and chronic illnesses.
Thank you.
