Hi, we are considering a Sen residential school placement for our 11 years old son. He is diagnosis with autism, Adhd and challenging behaviour. Along with severe learning difficulties.
My son should be starting Sen secondary school in sept but has to go through assessments to see if if they can meet his needs. I think they can't as his primary school which specialised in autism were now struggling with him.
He has separation anxiety & would scream all they way to school on the school bus & that would cause more problems in behaviour.
Are there any parents or carers who have been through the residential school process & achieved a place for their child. I would really appreciate if could share this with me.
Thanks

Hi @farah78
Thanks for getting in touch. You can request any school placement as part of the EHCP process but when it comes down to finding the right placement for your child, it is a case of visiting all the schools and doing local research. @Sam_Scope could this also be posted in the parent/carer section so that people could share their experiences?
In the meantime, you can get in touch with Contact a Family. They aim to put parents in touch with other families with similar concerns and questions so that people can provide support to each other. The link is below

I wish you success in moving forward and finding the right placement for your son. -
Hi @IndependentSupportServices, we've now moved this into that category.
