Hi i have been in receipt of ESA from all the way back as 2013. Since then i’ve had a few reassessments and been still awarded ESA. Now I received a DWP letter to apply for UC as it is replacing ESA so i created my online account filled in the details and i will receive information in a few weeks as to how much i will receive.

I already know how much I will receive as the standard allowance, there’s just one thing I have to question. I have a disability which is pretty severe epilepsy as has been awarded in my previous claims. I’m very sure i will receive this money for limited capability for work. Question is will it be the £456 per month or I also see there could be a limited capability for work which could only be around £140 or around that figure if my claim was before 3 April 2017

Issue is i’ve been receiving ESA since 2013 but my claim for UC started last week, so will I receive the higher or lower amount.

Which group were you in for ESA?

If it was the Support Group, LCWRA is the UC equivalent and pays £416.19 a month.

If it was the Work Related Activity Group, LCW is the UC equivalent and pays £156.11 a month IF your claim began before April 2017. Any claim after that date doesn't pay any extra money.

it’s always been the support group, I’ve not been capable for work since 2013 so i’ve always been in the support group, never the work related group.

I was just wondering because i have claimed ESA before 2017 will I be receiving the lesser amount.

The lesser amount is only for the WRAG/LCW. The 2017 date only applies to the WRAG.

You were in the Support Group so you will get the LCWRA element under UC at £416.19 a month.

Thank you so much. Sorry to ask a second question i know having made my application for UC migrating from ESA, my ESA will stop. However I read somewhere you will receive the ESA if it is within two weeks of the claim. My next ESA payment will have worked out at 13 days after my UC claim, would I receive that ESA or is it past the date to receive it.

After applying for UC you get one more payment of ESA, known as the run on payment.

This will be paid around two weeks after applying for UC, and may not be for the full amount depending on dates.

Hi I would just like to say I was due that final ESA payment at midnight yesterday. I didn’t receive so I called them and they checked and said it should be in my account later on yesterday or today. So i’ve checked today and it still isn’t there, so I called again and they asked if i recently made a claim for UC which i have as i need to migrate from ESA.

As confirmed on here i should get the two week run on payment but I never received it, even though they checked the date I applied for UC on which was 19th Feb which was 13 days before my final ESA payment was due.

Does anybody think i’ll receive this or have all my ESA payments finished and i’ll just have to wait for UC?

I just received my universal credit migration notice

Im on eas support group income related I get £318 a fortnight , I'm concerned if I go to UC I lose £318 , as my total a month with the 2 x £318 is £636 a month , but I read you only get a total of UC £390 , so how is UC stating that moving from esa income related support group we get the same amount we get £300+ less I'm im wrong on this can someone explain , is it's confusing me & I haven't applied yet

As you get ESA with SDP only, you will be better off on UC.

UC Standard Allowance +LCWRA (the UC equivalent of ESA Support Group) currently pays £809.64 a month.

Your monthly for ESA is currently £689.21.

ESA is a weekly benefit and there are 4.3 weeks in a month, so to convert into monthly you multiply the weekly amount by 52 then divide by 12.
