I'm going out for lunch with my grandma. I was supposed to be going out to a works party tonight but I'm not anymore because my PA has the sickness bug. My mum offered to take me but they said it's absolutely fine if I don't go

Hi @Catherine21
I was fine when I got home.
I have been worse lately with anxiety and .agoraphobia.
I think my worries are exacerbated by worries over potential benefit changes.
I try not to worry but its constantly on my mind.
The news was insulting what they call "benefit scroungers" again .yesterday.
I know we should ignore it but its an endless personal attack on disabled people.

@luvpink I know what you mean, I was watching question time last night and it was brought up about people are just lazy and people who have mental health problems should suck it up, like they did in the old days. I was shouting at the TV, fortunately most of the panel was more empathetic and pointed out that many working age people with Neurodivergent', disabilities want to work but they don't get the right support to find work. I'm currently in this situation with my youngest son, who wants to either do an apprenticeship or get a job, one that he can do with his Neurodivergent's, he was sent a link from his G.P which offers support for people in his situation, I tried to access it but none of the dates were available. He has helped himself to try and get an apprenticeship, he has been offered one interview after sending lot's of applications himself, nearly all of them don't even reply. You then have to hope that if you do get a job or apprenticeship they are aware of Neurodivergents and disabilities and are empathetic to your needs. I feel like we are all treated with the same brush. I worked as a wages supervisor, my mental health deteriorated at times, I could not take the time off my G.P wanted me to take off, when I ended up in hospital I said it was because I had bad food poisoning, I didn't think I was safe to tell them the truth. Now I don't shy away from being honest, if they don't understand that's their problems not mine. We have to keep on fighting, I feel I do more now than when I was in full time work, filling out forms for myself and my two sons, calls, interviews, endless hospital appointment's. I have to write notes in a book just so I can remember what I need to do. There's so much at times I become anxious and just want to shut it all out, I feel like I can't cope. If some of these people lived in our shoes they would think differently.

I managed to go out today. But my head keeps racing. I simply can't not stop. I am so scared. I have a letter from my benefits but it is ok. Only that will go up a bit. But I leave In fear. It is so hard to cope with all these issues. It is not life.

Its so true me and my daughter saying this the other day my daughter has a good job but she's always had to work harder than everyone else she's definitely undiagnosed autism it makes it so much harder knowing its your brain doesn't conform of fit in society well that's my experience I find it impossible to take orders I get very passionate about justice fairness if I see people being bullied I will speak up I hold everything in then explode I don't absorb anything god jobs over the years I have one walk out to another all the time easier in those days to get work and because I mask well I always got jobs but sometimes I used to be sobbing the night before the thought of facing people who could they make the work place more adapted for adhd an employer won't accept you have good bad days and if you don't want to do it you won't
