I have an ultra rare condition, a physical disability that brings about complex challenges. As such, I require an extensively adapted standing wheelchair. I had a community wheelchair assessment and they were unable to provide suitable chair fit my needs.

I was wondering if anyone is/ has been in a similar position and whether you have any advice regarding avenues I could explore for funding please?

Also, did your housing situation directly impact the personal wheelchair budget?

    Hi DiverselyAbl3d,

    If you receive the enhanced mobility rate for PIP then you will qualify for a Motability powered wheelchair. I noticed a section on the website about them and I am fairly certain they have standing wheelchairs. Worth a look, I know for my car they can make adaptations so perhaps they can for wheelchairs too? Definitely worth browsing the website and maybe giving them a call?

    Thank you for your kind reply, I do appreciate it. I have a WAV currently under the Motability scheme as such this wouldn't be an option for me.
