Hi ,it's all rather vague to me about what to do when applying for 50% road tax reduction because I get standard rate mobility. Can I send copies or does it need to be originals ,mot,ADP,car insurance, and do the DVLA send documents back,do I need to supply a stamped address envelope for them to return ,I thought all information ie MOT insurance would of been on line for them to check,or do they make things hard so we might not apply

    Hi,

They have made the 50% reduction very difficult for some reason. The 100% exemption for Enhanced PIP is a much easier process.

You do need to send originals and they will be returned to you. You don't need to send a stamped, addressed envelope. I would still recommend scanning or copying your V5 and ADP letter to keep for yourself in case the originals do get lost in the post.

MOT history and insurance notes can usually be printed from online so it does not matter about keeping a copy of those.

You will also need to print off a V10 form as I'm sure you probably already know.

Ye, i was thinking they make it difficult to keep you away. They have just lost my PIP notice i have been sending them for years. Then they ask for proof of posting, like if that"s going to get it found. Behind some filing cabinnet i expect. They sign for sack fulls of letters at a time, not individual letters, so, they would be none the wiser. Lost is lost.
