The Equalities Act says you're disabled if you have a long term condition (lasting 12 months or more) that affects your ability to do everyday things - communicate, walk, wash, dress, etc. The 12 months doesn't count if your condition is terminal. So, if you have terminal cancer, you're disabled from day one. Ditto if you're registered as hearing or sight impaired.
Temporary health problems, such as a broken leg aren't covered. -
