I have been thinking about this why do I grow food and yes it helps keep food bills down ,I like watching the process and feel quite chuffed when I harvest I can get lost in my own little world last summer I remember announcing to my bemused family that I had grown ratatouille for dinner all homegrown ingredients just add water I must do that again this year hopefully.

How do you do cuttings from Helebores? I've been gathering the small self seeded plants this year but didn't know you could take cuttings?)

ah sorry us old farmers call the division of the root system cuttings just pick a nice sized plant and chop the root ball best time is late winter or early spring

Finding both the stool & trolly invaluable tools..Much moving of bags from front to back garden. Compost, manure pots.. And easier than trying to get the barrow out of the shed.
Plus the Hellebores and the bulbs.. Not yet outโฆ0 -

Growing fruits and vegetables in the garden is quite an expensive toy if you look at it from the point of view of saving on products from the store. I am thinking about Japanese dry garden)

And Lidl is having its 'Garden Event' I might try some of their cold frames this year. In for another cold spell this week.
My biggest costs are compost, manure, grit, and not purchased so often perlite & vermiculite.. Most of my seeds come from seed swaps (although I do have a bought box ready to be sown!! as well) And plants from a local pay as you feel plant sale..
The display frame the bulbs are on was something neighbours were just chucking out! I keep meaning to find the time to sand it down & paint it..0 -
ah you cant beat growing from seeds and watching them flourish
