Hi my name is Karen I applied for a renewal of my pip in may and about six weeks ago received a text from the assessment company who deal with the pip assessments. Then three weeks ago received another text from the dwp saying they had received my report and would be in touch with a decision. Today I received a call from the dwp which I missed asking me to ring them back as it was late I will have to wait till tomorrow. Can anyone please tell me why the dwp is ringing me about pip claim ? I have not had an assessment yet. Thanks.

Hi @karen57 - from what you've said it sounds like a decision may have been made on paper without the need for an assessment, as you say you received a ''text from the dwp saying they had received my report and would be in touch with a decision.''
Sometimes you may get a call, usually lasting a short time, to ask a few questions before a decision is made. This is possible, but, as you say, you'll have to ring back to find out what it's about.

that’s a paper based decision ? Not sure if that is good or bad but thanks

Paper based decisions are usually favourable, but not always. An assessment isn't always needed, so hopefully a decision maker just wants to ask a few more questions to clarify things.

Hi @karen57, as Chiarieds says sometimes they make a paper-based decision. Hopefully you get another call or letter soon with some good news

hi does any one know if and who will be affected by the proposed cuts to pip and Lcwra? I have a pip award up till 2027 (get both standard daily living and Enhanced mobility components) and in the lcwra group. Will I be affected straight away? Seeing all the reports on tv and online and it’s really scary for everyone affected by these changes. I always worked up until two years ago ( carer / support worker for 34 years ) until the company I worked for finished my employment due to my poor mobility I didn’t really want to stop working and it broke my heart to leave my people who I cared so much about and supported for over 14 years, I always voted labour and never have I expected the Labour Party to be so cruel and dismissive of the people that they said they would care for in times of need. Never been out of work for 34 years paid taxes and insurance. Don’t think I will ever vote for any party again. !

Anyway I’m trying to put a good face on what’s happening and I hope those affected are too.chin up everyone and hopefully this will all work out ok. Would be grateful if someone can tell me if I will be affected straight away ? Thanks take care

Hi @karen57 appreciate it's a very worrying time at the moment and can understand why you're asking these questions. We're awaiting an announcement today, but this is very much the first step. Following this, there will be a period of consultation etc.

We're actively campaigning and raising awareness through The Cost of Cuts, and we’d really appreciate your support and signature.

We understand this is a difficult topic, and many people are finding it challenging. We have a dedicated discussion regarding the changes - Upcoming changes to benefits.

hi so when will all these cuts be put into place ? Will it be this year or next ? I really think the government are targeting the wrong people. I agree those who can work should work but if you find yourself in a situation where you can’t then you must be treated with respect and kindness and not written off and pushed to the point of anxiousness and upset the way a lot of people are. I’m quite anxious myself over these cuts and feel let down by Starmer and co. They need to look closely at there selves I bet the amount most of us get paid for the month probably won’t cover the mortgage on their fancy homes. Totally devoid of empathy never again will I vote labour.

would be grateful if someone knows when these cuts are to take place will it be sooner or later have both components of pip and uc/ and in Lcwra group how soon will I see a change ? Thanks

Hi @karen57 unfortunately we don't know all this information yet. I completely get why you are feeling worried. Like I mentioned in my earlier post, it's very much the early stages where they've laid out their initial plan and we are entering the consultation period where we can respond.

It might be worth keeping an eye out on The Green Paper Discussion where most of our members are discussing this, sharing their knowledge, and supporting one another. We've got this together 💪

Hi everyone, watched the televised budget and I really do think that the labour government (who are just tories in disguise) have opened a can of worms for themselves I really hope that it comes right back at them and people protest against these unfair and cruel cuts. No disabled person wants to be on benefits but it is a lifeline for many, which starmer and co are blind to acknowledge. Really hope that there are protests against them like the 80s when maggie thatcher brought in the poll tax.! I agree with the person that pointed out the article in the telegraph saying the cuts may contravene human rights it probably does.Heres hoping .
