And so will involve moving my 13 year old son from his current mainstream school with 1:1 assistance, my son is currently still on a statement which details the need of a 1:1 which is good, he has cp, is a wheelchair user and is doing really well academically, he will be in year 9 for the move have you any advice, tips etc.. To make sure I cover all needed in the move, I am very proactive and fought hard for his place in the school he has now so am prepared if needed! Thanks in advance ...

Thank you cockneyrebel I've had to turn a bit scary from time to time!
All part and partial of our fight for the right support and provision though!

Hi @stepaside
Great idea to be prepared. The best thing to do is to get some local advice. Have you looked on Devon's Local Offer site? It contains information about all areas of SEN and disability
https://new.devon.gov.uk/educationandfamilies/special-educational-needs-and-disability-send-local-offer
Regarding your son's school placement and ensuring support is in place in advance of the move, you can contact the Independent Support team in Devon. They will be able to support you and your son with the transfer from a statement to an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) which will have to be completed by April 2018
Devon Information, Advice and Support will be able to provide detailed information about how to manage the move and ensure that support is not interrupted

Wishing you luck with the move!
