I've been excluded from the warm home discount based on a 9 year old Energy Performance Certificate

I have been excluded from the warm home discount based on a Energy Performance Certificate that is 9 years old!!!
I met all the other required criteria but the 9 year old EPC excluded me 😰😥😭💯(energy performance certificate of efficiency
My flat was last assessed 9 years ago as being energy efficient but of course the government are going off Energy data from 9 years ago
I would urge anyone to go onto the Gov website and check their certificates to see when their expiry dates are because they get renewed every 10 years believe it or not!!!

The criteria this year is size and age of the property you live in. There's much less chance of being entitled to it when living in a flat. Although your EPC is 9 years old, it's still valid because they are valid for 10 years.I don't qualify either despite my 2 bedroom house being more than 100 years old and my EPC expiring in March 2022 and they are valid for 10 years. They still use an out of date EPC.I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying. If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.

It's case and point though in my eyes it's absolutely wrong what they have done...
The story about increasing the WHD by £10 whilst making a lot of people not eligible for it
But when you consider the fact that a lot of these certificates are 9 years old I would be somewhat inclined to agree that 9 years ago these homes would of been a lot more energy efficient than they are in today's age
I think it's safe to say that the government knew exactly what they was doing ☹️🤕🤕
My heart goes out to those who are genuinely struggling
This is about accountability and fairness & integrity and what they have done to the warm home discount is so unfair in my eyes poppy come on let's be honest absolutely wrong and heartbreaking -
I hope the people of British genuinely fight this
Because what has happened is disgusting the government knew exactly what they was doing with this criteria that's the bad thing about it
Thankyou for your reply it's greatly appreciated hope I ain't getting on your nerves ❤️ -
Certificates don’t get automatically renewed, someone has to pay for the assessment. A property is unlikely to see the rating reduce.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Rules may be different in other parts of UK.

Ok comment accepted but a property is likely to be reduced if you can be bothered to gather the evidence to prove at the time of a new assesment that the property should be rendered below C unless new improvements can be made immediately
Either way I will be taking my battle further because this government ought to be held to account for this appauling decision making ❤️ -
Been waiting , didn’t realise I’d be chucked off after receiving it for years,, just checked the certificate and mines expired,,,, I am sueing the council has the roof was rotten and falling off ( long story) but what now if I haven’t even got a certificate valid??

@reydon12121 I'm so sorry to hear that, do they not give you any warning to the certificate expiring?
Have you thought about contacting your Local MP about the issues?Hannah - She / Her

We didn't get the warm home discount this year, got it every other year but we don't qualify because we live in a flat. Unless your property has had new double glazing or insulation it's unlikely your energy rating would change, mine is now worst than it was 4 years ago.Life is better in a fishtank 🐟

Yes I also qualified for many years but don’t this year. What they look at this year is what benefits if any you claim and the size and age of the property you live in.I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. My flat isn't insulated, I have storage heaters and an electric immersion heater for the water. I don't use the hot water because I can't afford the £2.70 it costs to heat the tank. I use one storage heater because that alone costs 48p an hour to heat up and takes 7 hours , the heat is usually all used by 2pm so then I have to use an electric heater which costs even more to run. My flat is absolutely freezing and even with all the heaters on it never gets above 18 degrees. I have 2 disabilities that require me to keep warm or be even more ill, so I've basically spent the winter in bed and living in my bedroom because the living is too big to heat sufficiently.
I have had the warm home discount every year since it was made available, now they've decided I can't have it. I was told I have no right of appeal and ten only way to get it possibly changed is to get an EPC. My flat is council and they have refused to pay for it because they don't think its necessary, they told me I have to pay for it myself... They ignored my pleas that I can't even afford got water so definitely can't afford to pay for anything.
I have come to the conclusion that this government has a plan for disabled people, make life as difficult as possible, make sure our health gets worse and then we'll all die off.... They won't have to support us then. -
Sadly whether a property is insulated or not that’s not what the criteria is based on. It’s all about the size and age of the property you live in.I believe those living in flats are the least likely to qualify.I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please.
