Hi, new to this so bare with me!
my daughter turns 18 next yr and will be going to university not long after but still living at home am not sure if this is still classed as a dependent or not.? I get child benefits and child tax credits and I also have a 10yr old autistic child who I receive dla for. I guess my question is does this affect my benefits and my housing benefits? I know it’s a yr away but I suffer from anxiety and I am already worried sick now. Any help would be appreciated as there is no clear

It won't affect you as you have a child who's 10 years old. Dose your 18 year old get PIP as she might be able to receive it as well as a maintenance  loan. If you are paying for uni via loans.

Is your 17 year old still at school and are you getting CB and CTC for her?

You'll no longer get child benefit or child tax credit for your eldest but I don't know whether it affects your housing benefit, especially when she's at uni.

This is not correct. Once the daughter leaves full time non advanced education for Uni then tax credits and child benefit will stop for her and she will no longer be classed a dependant.
Lots of students at Uni apply for student finance so your daughter may want to look at claiming that. If you and your daughter will be the only 2 adults living at home then you need to tell your local Authority that she's still a student and you'll continue to receive the single person discount for your council tax. They will likely ask for written proof from the Uni which she's attending.

In respect of housing benefit, although she will be a non-dependant there will be no deduction for her provided she is a university student except if she works for more than 16 hours/week during the summer holidays.

You need evidence confirming that she is a university student. When the time comes she shoul£ be able to get that from the university.

So I think that means the Child Benefit can continue to the Sunday after 31st August 2024. You cease to be entitled to CB before then if she starts working for more than 24 hours/week.

The CTC will end on 31st August 2024 provided she intends to go to advanced education, such as university, otherwise the CTC end when her college course ends. You will need to keep HMRC informed about her intentions.

Sorry I was thinking it might go up to 19 or 25

If a qualifying young person remains in full time non advanced education (not Uni) then child benefit and child tax credits can continue until the day before they reach their 20th birthday.
For those that are claiming Universal Credit the child element will end on the 31st August following their 19th birthday.
