is moving from ESA to UC a wise idea?

Hi all, so i’ve recently been placed in the support group for ESA but looking online I would be entitled to more money if I moved over to UC as i’ve seen i would be automatically placed in the LCWRA.

Could someone please shed some light on the process? I don’t want to regret moving across so want to ensure I won’t be any worse off on UC. Thank you! :)

    To check.
Do you live alone or do you have a partner and/or children?
Do you have any savings/capital over £6000? (Joint if you have a partner)
Do you claim any other benefits?
    Do you pay rent?

In your thread in August you said you were applying for UC? Did you not do this?

Note that if you didn’t claim UC before and now claim UC your ESA will still continue but the money you get from UC will be reduced by the ESA you receive. You would receive fortnightly ESA payments and monthly UC payments. You don’t move from ESA to UC.

In your previous thread here you mentioned claiming ESA so that means your ESA is New style ESA. If you claim UC as well as advised in this thread https://forum.scope.org.uk/discussion/95012/uc-and-limited-capability-to-work#latest Your ESA will continue as normal and be deducted from the UC.
If youre living with a partner then you'll need to claim as a couple. If you have savings/capital of more than £16,000 you're excluded from claiming.
