Hi, I had received a text on Monday the 2nd January saying that the decision had not been made yet and they would write to me when it had, I have then received a letter in the post today the 4th January saying "We now have all the information we need to decide if we can award you PIP, there is no need to contact us, we will contact you when we have made our decision". Does anyone know if this is just standard, if they were going to say a flat out no would they have just said that by now. Sorry for asking if you have all heard this before but the stress of waiting is just horrendous. Thanks in advance, again!!

Hi @mollylegs There's no need to apologise! Many members will be able to relate to your feelings of stress and anxiety around PIP claims.
My understanding is that this is a standard letter, and doesn't indicate whether or not your claim will be successful.
Waiting times vary, but it can take around 2 to 12 weeks to receive a decision. If you've been successful, you may well receive the money in your bank before you receive your decision letter, so it's worth keeping an eye out for that.

Thank you for the replies0

No problem @Mollylegs How did you find the assessment?0

Hi Tori scope, I'm not sure how I reply to someone on here so I hope you see this. I was terrified, the phonecall lasted 1 hour and 20 minutes and I was a nervous wreck. The forms are so hard too.0

You're doing it right @mollylegs If you'd like to reply to someone in particular, you can tag them by typing @ followed by their username, like @mollylegs or @tori_scope
It's common to feel really nervous about the assessment! And many people find the forms difficult to complete. Well done for getting through it. Do you think there's anything that could be done to make the process less stressful?0 -
Hi Tori, my word anything and everything!! I'm not sure how your meant to answer a question that you aren't given a box to tick that is relevant to your answer, I was so scared if I left any question unanswered it would be an immediate no.0

Yes, I don't think it's explained clearly enough, as many people get quite confused about the form and the descriptors @mollylegs.0

Hi. Yes this is most likely a standard letter. I received the same one, then I get a text a few weeks later saying I had been awarded PIP. I hope you get it. 🤞0
-
@mollylegs I've had a text saying we've got the report, a text on Monday saying we've not yet made a decision and today a letter say we now have everything we need but this was dated 30/12. Its so difficult to not let your anxiety take over, good luck!0

Fingers crossed I love to crochet I hope we both get a yes Bellasdream0

Hi, sorry I haven't been on. I received a text at 8.04 this morning saying 'we have awarded you PIP, we have sent you a decision letter explaining the award, please allow 2 weeks to receive this. I was sitting in and got such a fright. 2 more weeks till the next letter comes. I'm past myself as I thought my phone asessment went well, Thanks for answering my questions.0
-
Although the letter may take 2 weeks (or more) you should see payments in your bank account next week.0

Hi Calcotti, thanks so much for replying. It's been a bit tough lately. My husband of 20 years left me for someone elso so i'm struggling massively physically and mentally.0
-
That’s got be enormously challenge even without having to deal with benefits. Hopefully some extra money will help.
Remember if you are not happy with the award, when you know what it is, you can challenge the decision.0 -
Hi Calcotti, I don't know why they can't just tell you on the day they text you. I also didn't know you could challenge the decision0
-
The text messages are still fairly new. Before they started sending them you wouldn't know there was an award until the money owed was in your bank. When you receive the decision letter it will tell you on there if you disagree with the decision you can request the Mandatory Reconsideration.0

Morning @Mollylegs just wanted to say great news about your PIP award, it's nice to hear when people are successful, you can breath a bit better now that bit is all over.
Hope your going to stick around i think you will find the group a great form of help and friendship, when your ready join us in the coffee lounge, we have lots of casual things going on.0 -
@Mollylegs if you phone them it tells you when you next payment is and how much so you can work out what you've been awarded I did that and I've got standard daily living rate no mobility. It doesn't tell you how much or when backdate will be paid. Really sorry to hear about what your going through, if you need to talk message me x0

Hi everyone, I'm still shocked and I know it sounds terrible as my husband has always just supported me so I've not had the need to apply for PIP. I didn't even know I could have applied anyway, but there was no need at the time. Now I've been living on £310 a month and I still pay £70 DD for the house. I found out on Monday when I was desperate for some shopping that my husband has flown to Eygpt with his new friend while I go hungry to make sure our son is fed.So I've been struggling massively. Thank you @sueheath can you give me info on how to get onto the coffee lounge. Hi @Bellasdream if I ring them do I have to speak to a person or is it a machine, thank you x0
