Because of this, I use my mobile phone to remind me at set times during the day to take my medication (which I keep in a dosette box).In my case, both the dosette box and the mobile are classed as aids.0 -
Hello @nickwisz and welcome to our online community, how are you keeping?
I hope Cartini's response has helped you better understand the PIP process. It might be worth familiarising yourself with the PIP activities and descriptors you would be scored against, before starting a claim. You would need to score a minimum of 8 points in either the daily living or mobility component to be successful with an award.
I'd highly recommend visiting the Advice Local website for specialist benefits advice from someone who can go into more detail with you about your respective conditions and look into the descriptors and how you are impacted more thoroughly. You might otherwise overlook things you do 'automatically' that would score points.
Also, I'm going to send you an email shortly so please keep an eye out for that. It's nothing to worry about.
In the meantime, I've slightly amended the title of your thread to help others better spot it and offer advice. Take care0 -
Hiya thankyou for your replies. I had my assessment, originally it was due to be via video so I logged on and waited almost two hours before finally hanging up as nobody answered….during this time my phone rang a few times but I didn’t dare answer in case I lost my appointment. When I finally did answer it was a lady informing me my video appointment had changed to a telephone appointment and should expect a cal in the next 15 minutes. As you can imagine holding for almost two hours sent my anxiety through the roof . I logged into the video chat right in schedule , in fear of hanging up I didn’t see the message that was sent to me…..at 11:42 I received a message telling me my video assessment had been changed to a telephone assessment starting at 10:54!!!!! Anyway the assessor rang at around noon and the call ended sone 3.5 hours later?!! I don’t know if this is a good thing or not….does anyone know if that’s a positive or has anyone had such a lengthy assessment?? I really need this award to help me get back on my feet, my debt is rising and my depression maximising . Im so stressed out with this whole process it’s a good thing im bald already😉 I was also awarded the LCRWA but was only given one payment although I have provided sick notes since august, I questioned it and was told that LCRWA kicks in after 6 months not 3 even though my award letter states it would be valid 3 months after I first provided a sick note….again putting me through tremendous stress….can they do that?? Change the rules at the last minute? Im worrried if I question it farther they may take away that benefit altogether. Im at my wits end with all this and would appreciate any of you seasoned warriors out there to give me some pointers please…..
warm and kind regards,

Firstly, try not to worry, when you start thinking about it, distract yourself and do something you enjoy, watch TV, listen to the radio, read etc.
If you don't get PIP, you can consider a Mandatory Reconsideration and Appeal. Although most people succeed at the Appeal stage, 73% Appeals succeed.
Regards the debt, they need to be managed, offer a reduced amount each month, ask for a payment holiday, etc, so many things you can do, the last thing you need to do is stress over it.0 -
The length of time it took for the assessment means nothing other than for you it took quite a considerable length of time. For your LCWRA element for UC there's a full 3 month assessment period waiting time and the extra money is paid from the 4th month after you reported your health condition. Providing you sent a fit note within 7 days of that and continued to sent them without any gaps until a decision was made on your WCA.Based on the limited information you gave your first payment should either be either Dec or Jan. When it's paid from exactly will depend on what date you first reported your health condition and sent your first fit note and what date you usually receive your money each month.0

Thank you, I sent the note in august and the on Friday I got a message in my journal that it’s 6 months after applying not three, although my initial award letter stated 3 months…im at my wits end because I do t think they can just change the award time from 3 to 6 months….it’s also causing me massive anxiety abit behind my awarded the PIP which I genuinely need….so mush stress for no reason and I think they’re trying to shaft me.
thanks for resding0 -
What date in August exactly did you send the first fit note? And what date do you usually receive your money each month?
I can’t tell you when it’s paid from exactly without knowing this information.0 -
I sent the first fit note in July and my first universal credit payment was in August last year0

The 11th of each month0

In regards to my PIP assessment I was informed it would be via video link at 11:00 February 13 and so I logged on and wa ls held in a virtual waiting room for close to 1:45 hrs during which time my phone rang but i dont dare answer in case I lost my appointment. I eventually did answer and it was a lady informing me that I was due a telephone consultation instead. So at 11:42 I was informed my appointment had changed to 10:54 and it would be via telephone, as you can I may this caused massive stress and anxiety waiting on the virtual waiting room. So my appointment was changed almost an hour before I received the message that it had changed? I was very concerned because I knew if I missed the appointment my pip application would be cancelled and I would have to start again. Its all very stressful, thankyou for responding,

Oh ok !! I wasn’t aware, thankyou.
I must’ve given the first sick note sometime in June, the exact day I do not know , my first award of UC was based on my assessment period from 5the July to 4th August 2022.
I’ve been stressing about this PIP payment for ages, if I’m awarded it then great, if not I can appeal. I’m not going to fret about it anymore. I feel I deserve the help especially with what my life is like now and have to hope whoever decides the outcome is fair and decent. Had i known about PIP up until recently I would have applied them as I’ve been battling on on my own and suffering for it. Thank you to all who have contributed your knowledge and time to read my messages, nice touch!!

Without this information i'm afraid it's impossible to help you. However, if you sent it in August as you first said you did and it was after August 5th then your waiting period will be.. Sept to Dec.. LCWRA starts from Dec/Jan assessment period and first payment would be 11th Jan.I can't remember the information on the letter that you posted, which has been removed because of personal information. I remember it said on there what date it's paid from.Just speculation really...

You’re exactly right, i re read it all and it is how it is. Part of the effects of brain damage is loss of attention to detail and focus. So thank you again for your patience and efforts to try and help me out.
kind regards
