Successful PIP review without assessment —following tribunal

Hello!
I thought i should share my experience with my pip review.
My award was due to end in May 2023 ( enhanced for both). As it had been awarded by the tribunal 3 years back, I was not expecting an AR1 review form as I had read that the DWP would usually let awards by the tribunal end. Therefore I had planned to submit a new form around December. But in October I was sent a AR1 which I returned completed a week later, making sure my health conditions and its impact are detailed on an attachment document, around a paragraph or 2 on each question I needed to score. I also included a letter from my consultant and a copy of a prescription repeat. Writing the comments, I made sure i re-read and understood the statement of reasons from the tribunal and sometimes used the same key words/statements as I beleived they had understood my conditions more than the assessor or DWP did. I was releived to receive an extension letter this week ( 3 months after I returned the form) with the same points and entitlements awarded by the tribunal —with no assesssment involved. I am hoping this may help those who are waiting for a review on award decided at the tribunal level or simply those who were not aware the DWP could extend the tribunal awards. Happy New Year for all of you.

From what you have written , this sounds like they have given you a temporary extension they give these for upto 12mths AND THEY ARE AUTOMATIC to allow them time to clear the backlogs for assessments , This is not a NEW award, just an extension of your existing award which will expire on the date shown in that letter, the claim has not progressed, and a new decision hasn't been made , But it should say on that letter that following a new decision your payments could stop change or stay the same before the end date of the extension ,I can't see it being extended automatically this early because their PIP award wasn't due to end till May 2023, it's only January. It's perfectly possible for a decision to have been made already because not everyone is waiting many many months for a decision on a review.I had a very fast turn around for my PIP review last year and only waited 6 weeks for a decision.0 -

Thanks for coming back to confirm it wasn't just an extended award due to backlogs, which i thought it wasn't because of what you wrote here.

Kayceee said:@Pclaver hi, was the only extra evidence you supplied your repeat prescription and a letter? Did you go into detail like your original claim form or just make points as per tribunal? Thank you 😊Kayceee said:@Kayceee
You know on the review form they ask whether a particular aspect of your condition has changed or not.
I focused only at those i needed to score points. I would tick nothing had changed following by an explaination ....something like: Due the pain caused by.... i still cant....
( a paragraph or two)
So yes i went into details.
I relied on the tribunal's comments because they had highlighted where i needed assistance.
The extra evidence were just those you mentionned.poppy123456 said:tomm said:

It was not a temporary extension but 4 years new award.
Thanks.
Had you said it was a new award ,with the rates unchanged for 4yrs , then i wouldn't have thought it was a automatic extension of the original award from the tribunal due to the current backlog in some areas, Anyhow well done
I think i didnt choose the right words. Sorry for confusing you.0 -
