Hi,

I recently filled and sent off my PIP assessment with the help a welfare charity about a week and a half ago.

I received a very short phone call today from a lady from captia (about 5 minutes) and asked a few more questions and then said I didn't need an assessment and would receive a decision within a few weeks.

I'm worried as it seems very rare not to have an assessment? I didn't send a huge amount of evidence either as the person from welfare charity helping me said I could send more evidence if the claim initally gets rejected.

Anyone got an experience with not needing an assessment?

    Sounds like you had what’s known as a paper based assessment. Though these are rare they do happen.

    Once the report is returned to DWP a decision can take up to about 12 weeks. I just admit your timescale has been extremely fast after returning the forms.

    I thought this was all going very quick.
    I only received the text from DWP on Friday saying they've received my PIP form, and then today Monday morning I got this very short call from Captia.

    I thought I'd update.

    I received a text this morning on the 06/02 that I've been awarded PIP.
    I haven't received any money in my account as of writing, so I'm not sure at what rate yet.

    Overall the process for me has been very quick and easy which I'm very grateful for. Still not sure why I didn't need a face to face or phone assessment, but I'm also very grateful for that too!

    It's only just over 30 days since I sent off my assessment form to be awarded PIP.

    You should expect to receive arrears owed within 3-5 working days, followed by a letter. I am quite frankly shocked how quick the process was for you, many other people are waiting several months even when they have a rare paper-based assessment.

    Great news.

    @Durus

    Thats great news so pleased for you, and so quick amazing.
    You could phone to ask what you were awarded, or just wait on the letter.

    Take care ❤️
