Hi guys,
I sent off my mandatory reconsideration and had confirmation today that it has been received. I scored 6 on for standard living and I genuinely feel I should have been awarded at least 8, maybe 10 points.

My question is, does anyone actually have any success stories from an MR and is the 8 week timescale they’ve given usually met?

thanks in advance

I've just had a successful mandatory reconsideration. I had all of my points unfairly taken off me, and had no hope of getting any back. But last week, I found out I'm back on enhanced rate for both components, so it does happen!

I wrote a letter to support the Mandatory recon stating which parts of the report I disagreed with and why. Explain why you can't do an activity in a safe and timely manner etc. It helps to have the descriptors to go by too.

    Good luck!

Undoubtedly. I always think of it it as similar to what teachers used to tell you about the marking scheme for exams at school so that you shape your answers accordingly.

Thanks guys, great news that yours was successful Aimee.

I think my MR was quite detailed, I wrote in paragraphs for each area that I feel I deserved more points. For example I put ‘I do not feel my mental health was assessed fairly, you have agreed I have anxiety however said as I do not take medication the anxiety is not bad. The reason for not taking medication is consultants recommendation due to other medication and the risks of combining. Most antidepressents will make you drowsy, I currently have to drink 6 litres throughout the day and night therefore the medication is not suitable.’

    hopefully they consider my points.

Hi, did you hear back from the MR? I have submitted one and had a text this morning saying they expect to look at my case by the 11/4.

Yes I did, unfortunately nothing changed. In fact the wording was the exact same as the original decision. I submitted my appeal a couple of days later and DWP have until 27th March to respond.

Good luck with your MR, I hope you are successful

I think that's exactly what you need to do, do it in writing, make the case for a favourable decision, the things in the report that you disagree with, plus real world examples of how the condition effect you from day to day. Just forget it's a Mandatory Reconsideration (they can be done over the phone by saying you want one), think that you are actually Appealing the decision.
