Hi l need advice, it's a bit complicated but l will put it in order for anyone to understand.
1- I first applied for DLA fory child before he was diagnosed in 2021, at that time he was still being assessed for ASC so DWP gave home HIGH RATE CARE only up until May 23
2 - In Aug 2022 when he turned 3 we applied for Mobility High Rate as by then we had his diagnosis of autism along with severe behavioural difficulties. They told us that this would take 20weeks.
3 - In Jan 23 l received his renewal pack for the CARE part of the DLA which was expected to end in May 23 in the form l mentioned about the mobility form which l had send off back in Aug 22 and then again l filled the mobility part on the renewal form. Which l send of on 4th Jan 23.
4 - I received a letter dated the 11th of Jan 23 stating that he has been awarded the high rate care from 1st Aug 2022 - 31st July 2031, and they said he can't the mobility as he does not qualify. Which l clearly written applying" under severe mental impairment"
5 - Please someone explain to me how can they make a decision on his CARE just in a matter of couple days.
6 - His mobility is clearly written in his report that his behaviour is extremely difficult all supporting letters given.
7 - So please can someone explain what l can do now.

Hello @anita1973 and thanks for the timeline of your son's DLA claims.
I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to reliably guess at what hastened the care decision but would urge you to pursue a mandatory reconsideration (as linked to by Calcotti above) to ask for the mobility outcome to be looked at again. To hold you in the best stead with this, I'd recommend getting personalised advice from a free welfare organisation close to you. You can find this via the AdviceLocal website. Would you feel comfortable doing that? If you enter your postcode and select 'Welfare benefits' from the drop down box, you will be taken to a screen with more details.
Just to let you know, I've moved your thread to our PIP, DLA and AA category to help others find it more easily. If you have any other questions, please give us a shout. And, all the best to you and your son.0 -
Hi thanks for that, l will do a mandatory reconsideration letter myself0
