Hi, I'm HemelHatter! I've been awarded PIP, do you get both components automatically?

Hi everyone.
I received a text to say that I’ve been awarded PIP but have not yet received my award letter. My question is, could I just receive the disability part on its own without the daily living part. IE £24.25 and not the £61.85 that is the daily living part or do they both go hand in hand ?

Obviously very new to this and naive so it’s good to see a site where we where all in the same boat at some stage.
Thank you

You can be awarded any part of PIP, which includes either both parts or just one part. If you want to know what you've been awarded then you can ring PIP tomorrow when they open at 9am. You can also ask what day any money owed to you will be paid into your bank and they will tell you.

Hello @HemelHatter and a warm welcome to our online community, how's your Sunday going?
Ooft it's a veritable minefield isn't it to understand, so you did absolutely the right thing coming here and letting us fill the gaps Hopefully you can speak more with the PIP helpline about your exact award, but well done on having a successful outcome either way.
Just to let you know, I've moved your thread to our PIP, DLA and AA category and amended the title of your thread to help others who may have a similar query. It'd be lovely if you could keep us updated.
Best wishes.2 -

i will
more than likely wait until
i receive the letter. I’m not one to chase or harass people. I only received the text last Thursday saying I had been awarded it and I’ve been waiting since October so another few more days won’t hurt.Thankyou for letting me know that it could be either or, just hoping for both to help my wife and I out.HH1
