Hi my name is Carri, 42, and I have been disabled since 2018 as the unfortunate result of a DV attack just 10 weeks after spine surgery.  I was kicked in the back where my stitches were.  Since then I have had 6 more procedures but been told there is nothing more they can do leaving me living a life in severe pain, osteoarthritis and various mental health conditions.  In 2019 I took to art as a form of therapy for myself and sold some of my art to raise money for the prevention of young suicide  (papyrus)
With the help and advice from DWP I have been able to register self employed under the permitted work scheme and in 2021 Art Obsession was born.  I went from being a workaholic to  suicidal to being able to work when it is comfortable for me and I am happy again. (though very worried about the cost of living right now and not sure if I am getting all the help I am entitled to)
It's nice to be here and I am looking forward to meeting some of you.  :)

Good morning @CarriUK welcome to our great group.
I am sorry to read about your problems with your back, there are quite a few of us on the forum with spinal/pain problems, so you will be able to see how others cope and maybe have your own advice to share.
When your ready have a look around the site, we do have lots going on and as your into Art look at our very own Gallery, you can post any of your own work if you wish. Any problems just ask, someone is bound to be online - Enjoy

Hi there @CarriUK and welcome, thanks for sharing a bit about yourself. Art Obsession sounds great, is there a particular style or medium you work with the most in your work?

We'll be sending you an email a little later this afternoon, nothing to worry about, but please let us know if it hasn't come through :)
