World Cancer Day is held every February 4th, led
by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC). The organisation’s
mission is to raise awareness, improve education and making sure from personal input
to government action, we work together to make sure life-saving cancer
treatments and care are accessible to all.
This years World Cancer Day Theme is “Close the Care Cap”. This is a 3-year campaign for impact. In 2022, the “Close the Care Gap” campaign was all about understanding and recognising the inequalities in cancer care around the world.
Inequalities in:
- Cancer care costs.
- Treatment barriers.
- Discrimination based on ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability and lifestyle.
In 2023, the campaign is all about uniting our voices and taking action. To spread the word, bringing in stronger alliances and innovative new collaborations.
So we wanted to put it to the community.
How will you be using your voice? Will you be sharing and signposting on your social media? Will you be joining in with any of the challenges?
