There's a full 3 month assessment period waiting time and the extra money is paid from the 4th month after you reported your health condition. Providing you sent a fit note within 7 days of that and continued to send them without any gaps until a decision was made on your WCA.

What date do you usually receive your money each month? Without knowing that your first payment will be either Dec 2022 or Jan 2023.

So your assessment periods (AP) are 7th to 6th of every month and you sent your first fit note in AP Aug/Sept, which doesn't count because it's not a full month.

Therefore your waiting period will be Sept/Oct, Oct/Nov, Nov/Dec.. LCWRA starts from AP Dec 7th to Jan 6th and first payment would be 13th Jan. This means up to now they owe you 1 months LCWRA element.

Money owed is usually paid separately to your usual monthly money and can take a few weeks to pay what is owed. Once your statement has been recalculated you will receive a letter on your journal telling you how much they owe you and it will then be paid into your bank.

When you receive this months statement you need to check it to make sure the LCWRA element is included.
The above advice is assuming you're not claiming UC with a partner that already receives the LCWRA element on your claim.

You don't need to send any further fit notes and your decision letter should have included that information.

You're welcome. Just to make sure you understand, they owe you 1 months LCWRA element from January. Going forward you should have the LCWRA element included in your maximum UC entitlement but please check your statement when you receive it this month.

    Hi @poppy123456
Sorry to bother you again about this as you said they owe me one month did you mean one month extra or as in the normal pay of LCWRA ? As today I was able to see on my account what they are giving me from the lcwra and it just says the normal pay and my normal UC pay no extra month pay so I just wondered thank you in advance

LCWRA is an extra £354.28/month so your maximum UC entitlement would increase by that amount each month.

On your statement it should include that extra £354.28 and show as LCWRA element. If the decision was only recently made then they may not have been enough of time to include the extra in your statement this month. This means they now owe you 2 LCWRA payments.

It's not unusal for it to take a few weeks to pay what is owed.

    Hi good morning
    @poppy123456
Just wanted to let you know I received a letter from UC stating they owe me money over certain amount this is because take-home pay has been recalculated ..
So is that the LCWRA extra pay ?
    Thank you in advance 🙏

That will be because you most likely didn't have the work allowance before you were found to have LCWRA. The work allowance means you can receive a certain amount of earnings each month before the 55% deductions apply.

If you claim for help with the rent it will be £344/month, if you don't it will be £573/month. The work allowance will apply from the assessment period in which you reported your health condition, which for you will be Aug/Sept.

If the money they owe you includes the LCWRA element then the letter will tell you. If it doesn't then you will need to wait for another letter which will then include the 2 months LCWRA element.

That's great yes I've just read the letter again it doesn't include any LCWRA it's just about the work allowance which I wasn't getting
.. so now I know I have to wait for another letter.. great thankyou so much @poppy123456 🙏
