I made two PIP claims because my first was closed. Will they backdate to the first?

I made a PIP claim last year and then it closed because I didn't respond because I couldn't get evidence. I made a claim months later, in October. I eventually had the assessment and then got a text saying I had been awarded PIP. Will the first payment be backdated to the start of my first claim? Or will it be my second? Years ago, with another benefit, I think I had something similar, where it was backdated to the first claim. I doubt that will be the case this time but I would like to know. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Hi there unfortunately I can't give you advice on this topic as I'm not an expert in this field but hopefully with my post it will bump you up the list of discussions. Please note it might be a bit longer than usual as it's a Sunday but someone will answer your question as soon as possible for you. In the meantime why don't you check out the coffee lounge with me for some fun.1

I would not expect the claim to be backdated to the earlier one. If there was a reason that you did not respond which caused the closure of the first claim you could have challenged the decision to close the claim. Waiting for medical evidence would be unlikely to be considered good reason for not responding - medical evidence is not essential and can, in any case, always be sent later if it becomes available after the initial submission.1
