I have a question about ESA.
My son and I are thinking about jointly owning my council house he can get a mortgage to buy it. What I want to know would it affect my ESA I have no savings once he uses his deposit neither will he. I am on income based ESA.

Hi @Tracy58 and a warm welcome to our community, how are you doing?
As this isn't a topic I have specialist insight into, I've moved it to our ESA category and amended the title to help others spot it and offer their thoughts.
Take care and wishing you a fab Thursday.0 -
Makes no difference to your ESA. It will change your HB because you will only be responsible for half the rent. If he currently lives with you and your HB currently has a non dependent deduction for him that would stop if he is a joint tenant.0

But if they jointly own the property then there will be no entitlement to HB anyway.

No worries. As you're aware, i do exactly the same thing all the time. No surprises really because answering so many threads here does make your brain go side ways sometimes.
