I don't know about the MR process so will leave others to advise on that.

Applying for pip is very different though from applying for dla. You absolutely need to get on top of understanding the descriptors. I would highly recommend checking out the site called benefits and work. I don't know if it's ok to link it here but a google search will turn it up.

If you join, you will be able to download their excellent guide which is very thorough in explaining what each descriptor is getting at. You do need to pay a fee to join but it isnt huge and is well worth doing.

The one that sticks in my head from when i made the application for my son is the laundry question. There, you need to think about your son's ability to

    - recognise that his clothes need a wash
    - gather them together
    - get them to the machine
    - operate the machine (having emptied coins etc from pockets)
    - empty machine

It is more than being able to select the programme and press start.

Also - although pip say not to send reports more than a couple of years old - they absolutely do consider them for certain lifelong conditions. My son has autism and i sent his diagnostic report and a report on his cognition that were 9 YEARS old and pip definitely took them into account as they quoted from both reports in their assessment.

Really not sure which question you are referring to. Whilst knowing whether or not clothes need washing may be relevant for the Dressing descriptor (which considers selecting appropriate clothing) but there isn’t a laundry question and nothing that deals with whether or not a claimant can wash their own clothing.

these may be helpful for understanding what to address in order to score points

Thanks @calcotti - it is over 3 years now since i have done these forms or been on b&w. Maybe i am mixing it up with the UC application?

There is a q on one of them that asks whether someone could cope with programming a washing machine. I remember it because i didnt know about b&w site when i applied on behalf of my son and i just thought about whether he could turn the dial and press start.

But the b&w guide says to widen it out to the entire process of doing a wash from start to finish. I do still have the guides somewhere in the depths of my downloads so i will check which it is and get back 🙂

That’s for a Work Capability Assessment.
    There’s a question about learning a task.
    Nothing to do with PIP.

Apologies! It is question 11 on the UC50.  You're absolutely correct @calcotti!

Sorry for confusion caused. However, b&w do produce excellent guides for claiming pip as well as uc and i hope we can agree that it does help to fully understand what each descriptor is getting at . . . . .

for now I will slink away with my tail between my legs and leave these kinds of questions for those of you that know what you're talking about🤣

@Birchy Hello there and a warm welcome to our online community, how are you doing?

Can I just clarify that you've lodged an appeal and have received your appeal papers or 'bundle'? Are you enquiring as to what you should include in a submission?

And @anisty No need to slink off! It's easily confused and your advice had the best of intentions. I've done similar before  :D

    Thanks @Cher_Scope🙂

Yes, my heart was in the right place there with good intentions - I was just a bit lacking in the knowledge dept😂
