If a person is claiming Income Support and carers allowance the carers allowance is deducted in full from your Income support. They then add a carers premium of £38.85/week. Carers allowance is then paid separately. Although your IS will overall be less your actual weekly benefit increase will be £38.85/weekThe disability premium has nothing to do with a person claiming carers allowance. If someone is claiming either PIP or DLA and Income Support they will also be entitled to the disability premium.
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying. If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help. -

In 2013 I was told the disability premium was no longer payable with income support ! even though my doctor had completed the permanently unfit for work green form
-
I receive £92.30 I.S every fortnight & £69.70 weekly Carers Allowance

russ7 said:In 2013 I was told the disability premium was no longer payable with income support ! even though my doctor had completed the permanently unfit for work green formThat's not correct. The "green form" i assume you mean fit note is irrelevant for IS anyway.russ7 said:I receive £92.30 I.S every fortnight
That doesn't seem right to me. Are you claiming IS as a single person or with a partner? If there's just yourself then your IS should be as follows...£77 Income Support (if 25 and over)£36.20 disability premium£38.85 carers premium = £152.05 - £69.70 carers allowance = £82.35/week (£164.70/fortnight)If you're not claiming with a partner, are there any other adults living with you? Does anyone claim either carers allowance or carers element of Universal Credit for looking after you? Also does your PIP include the daily living part?I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying. If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help. -
I'm single & share a house with the person I'm carer for..the £152.05 then the carers allowance deducted would be less than I receive now ! Their wouldn't be any point claiming Carers Allowance if the whole amount is deducted.
-
The carers allowance is deducted yes but they then add the carers premium as shown in my calculation. So in total you’re £38.85 better off. They just haven’t included the disability premium. You haven’t answered the question I asked… does anyone claim either carers allowance or carers element of UC for looking after you?I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. How can the fit note be irrelevant for I.S when until 2013 I received the disability premium then was purposely mislead by the D.W.P saying that I.S was ending then after being told I'd get the backpay I was owed they then said the disability premium couldn't be paid with I.S ... Something is seriously wrong with the whole system .

No one claims for me,I am the carer for a visually impaired friend
-
Fit notes have nothing to do with IS because you’re not asked to look for work anyway. You’re entitled to the disability premium of £36.20/ week because you’re claiming PIP.If your PIP includes the daily living part then you’re also entitled to the Severe Disability Premium of £69.40/week.I’d advise you to ring IS to ask to claim the SDP. A form can be filled in over the phone, which should only take about 10 minutes. It may take quite a few weeks for a decision especially if they owe you a considerable amount of money. If you stop claiming carers allowance then your IS will end.I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I don't receive PIP I receive I.S & carers allowance, when I received the disability premium I was not asked to look for work yet since they stopped the disability premium I am called in to the job centre yearly to provide a completed form of what I do for the 35 hours of caring !
-
Are you saying that if I was not a carer & received I.S I would not have to look for work ! You say fit notes are nothing to do with I.S ? then why did I have to provide the permanently sick note prior to being cheated out of the disability premium in 2013 non of it makes sense only the fact that the government told the DWP to get as many people off sickness benefits as possible!

Why am I not entitled to it when it's still payable with i.s & why am I receiving i.s ten years after the DWP stated in writing that i.s is ending
-
Looked at gov.uk/disability premiums eligibility & it contradicts itself...first it states the premium is payable with income support then states if you are partially sighted/blind
-
If I get a fit note from my doctor & still a carer then what benefits am I entitled to ?
-
Are you registered blind? It’s not easy to advise when you’re drip feeding information. In my first comment in your thread I did mention if someone is claiming either PIP or DLA then there would be entitlement and you didn’t say you weren’t so I assumed you were.I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. If you have a health condition that limits your ability to work and you want to have a Work Capability Assessment when claiming UC.russ7 said:If I get a fit note from my doctor & still a carer then what benefits am I entitled to ?

russ7 said:If I get a fit note from my doctor & still a carer then what benefits am I entitled to ?If you have a health condition then report this when you claim supported by a fit note. You will then need to go through the work capability assessment. If found to have LCWRA you would be entitled to extra money from the 4th month. However, you would then lose the carers element because you can’t claim this and LCWRA element at the same time.I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please.
