Even with my own health problems & being a carer I'd have no chance of getting PIP or DLA
I made it clear I receive income support & carers allowance, my issue is the fact that I was purposely mislead by the DWP being told in 2013 that i.s was ending & that I was first told I would continue to get the disability premium then three months later was told it wasn't payable with i.s

The person I care for is registered blind we have no support whatsoever,I've tried contacting social services to ask how to obtain his certificate of visual impairment.. apparently they have no knowledge of him so cannot help... where do we go from there ? The fact that I'm his carer & save social services a fortune isn't a surprise they leave me to it ! The whole system is a disgrace

You didn’t make it clear that you don’t claim PIP or DLA.

Just because you’re a carer it doesn’t mean you can’t claim PIP. Lots of people care for others while claiming PIP their self, myself included. Providing your caring duties don’t contradict the reasons you’re claiming PIP.

Have you either taken advice or looking at the requirements for PIP yourself?

You can still claim carers element if you claimed UC but if you go through the work capability assessment and are found to have LCWRA then it’s the law that the same person can’t receive both elements at the same time.

Your carers allowance would be deducted in full from any UC entitlement, the same as it is from your IS.

LCWRA element in UC, if applicable, is worth more than the carer element.

If you started a claim for PIP and were successfully awarded at least daily living then you would be entitled to the disability and severe disability premium for your IS.

If you claimed UC the disability premiums do not exist. Therefore if you think you can score enough points needed for a daily living award of PIP then you would be better off not claiming UC.
