Hello
My PIP review is currently ongoing it was initiated on 4th May 2021 but has been delayed due to the backlogs of Covid etc.
I finally had my assessment on 28th Jan 2023 & I’m expecting a decision by March 10th 2023 - according to the assessors report my award will increase but what I want to know is will the decision and any potential payment be backdated to the review initiation date because the delay was caused by the DWP’s backlog issues?
thanks

Decisions can take up to 12 weeks once the assessment report was returned to DWP. Under normal circumstances if a review was started by DWP there's not usually any money owed if the new award is higher.Due to the long delays with reviews some people have been receiving money owed when their award has been higher but some haven't.0

Thanks for this, I spoke with PIP last week and they said I’d get a decision by then so that’s what I’m going by.I asked an advisor whist I was awaiting an assessment referral and they said it’d usually be backdated to the initiation date so it’s all a bit confusing.I sent my form back around May 2021 so I would assume it’d be backdated as that’s when it was initiated but idk. It seems a bit unfair that it won’t be considering I followed the rules and it’s their fault it’s delayed.0
