Hi all,
I have recently started a claim with ESA as I had to quit my job of 10 years due to my disability getting worse. I have brittle bones and I broke my leg after 11 years of going strong! This resulted in a major operation to fit a plate and nails alongside 2 pre existing pins. Long story short, I haven’t been the same since and was advised to be very very careful as if I slip and fall again, it would cause major complications with my leg and could be irreparable.
as you can imagine, im now highly anxious of filling and breaking the leg again… although im no stranger to doing so!

I recently got sent the booklet of forms to fill out and send back to ESA - I just wanted to get some advice from anyone whose filled these out before… are there any key words I should use? What supporting evidence could I sent regarding my disability? It’s difficult because obviously I don’t have broken bones 24/7, but I have pain and problems from my condition constantly.
Thanks!

There's no specific words you need to use and you don't need to have broken bones 24/7. First thing to do is look at the descriptors to see if any apply to you and then you'll have something to focus on. As it's New style ESA you're claiming then this will only continue to be paid after a year if you're placed into the Support Group. You can see the descriptors for this here. https://www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/employment-and-support-allowance/esa-glossary/support-group-descriptors
