Hi,
I have only just discovered that when you receive PIP, you dont get any NI credits!
I was originally on Incapacity Benefit but i moved onto PIP (DLA then) due to my long term health.
I have just checked my NI credits and i havnt had any since 2014!!
Could any of you lovely people point me in the right direction so that i can start to get my credits back.
Thank you in advance
Mandy x

When you were claiming Incapacity benefit you wouldn't have moved to PIP from this because they are completely different benefits. DLA/PIP has never included any NI credits. When your Incapacity benefit stopped what benefit did you claim in place of this? You can check entitlement to Universal Credit (includes class 3 NI credits towards state pension only). As it's a means tested benefit, if you live with a partner you'll need to claim as a couple and your joint circumstances will be taken into consideration. If you have savings/capital of more than £16,000 you're excluded from claiming. Use a benefits calculator to check entitlement. https://www.entitledto.co.uk/benefits-calculator/Intro/Home?cid=35e230fc-fc34-45bd-8772-98e918596842If you're claiming tax credits then a claim for UC will end the tax credits. If there's no entitlement to UC then you can look at claiming New style ESA. If you haven't worked at some point in tax years 2020/21 and 2021/22 then you won't be paid any money. You'll need to send a fit note and go through the work capability assessment, if found to have Limited capability for work you will receive NI credits based on LCW.

Would be helpful if you would confirm what benefits you claim.
The reason PIP doesn't provide NI credits his because PIP is not a work replacement benefit.0 -

my hubby does get carers allowance and income support.

However, if you have a health condition that limits your ability to work you can apply for new style ESA. If you will need a Fit Note from your GP to support the claim. You will be told that you cannot be paid new style ESA but you will still be sent a health form to complete and then referred for an assessment. If you are found to have Limited Capability for Work you will then be given Class 1 NI Credits.
You should note that during the next 18 months your husband is expected to be told that his IS will end and you will both have to claim UC in order to continue receiving benefit. It will be beneficial for you to have had an ESA assessment before that happens because if you have been found to have Limited Capability for Work and Work Related Activity it will increase the UC entitlement.0
