PIP Tribunal Help

Hi all,
I have my pip tribunal on Wednesday. I’m attending by telephone. I’m just wondering what I can expect to happen at the tribunal, what sort of questions I’ll be asked, how long it’ll last, when I’ll know the outcome & how backpay works please.
I’ve had extra diagnosis’ and evidence which I’ve submitted to tribunal rather than doing a change of circumstances, tribunal have accepted the evidence and DWP haven’t objected to any of it. Today I’ve given evidence from my psychiatrist which I was told would also be processed today because it’s urgent. I’m just wondering, at what point can DWP no longer make an offer? Could I get a call Monday/Tuesday in response to my new evidence with an offer? Or is it now too late?thankyou

There are no set questions.
The tribunal will introduce themselves. Their job to is to make a decision on your claim instead of DWP. They will have looked at the paperwork before the hearing and will then ask the questions that will help them fill in gaps and to better understand the difficulties you have.
I think it’s unlikely DWP will have time to review your claim in the next couple of days.0 -
The Tribunal will not take into consideration any worsening of condition. PIP isn't about a diagnosis either. What questions they will ask will depend on how your conditions affect you. As i have no idea how they affect you then i can't tell you what you'll be asked. Some hearings take minutes, others can take up to an hour. Sometimes they will give you the decision on the day, sometimes not. If they don't they will send you the decision letter in the post which you should receive in about a week. If this happens It doesn't mean you've been refused. At this late stage i'd advise you to prepare for the hearing to take place, rather than expect an offer from DWP.0

So even though the tribunal have accepted the new diagnosis (multiple spinal issues) and DWP haven’t objected it (they responded to it just saying it hasn’t made them change their decision- but they never dismissed it or objected to it) at tribunal it could be disregarded?poppy123456 said:The Tribunal will not take into consideration any worsening of condition. Also just to add, the spinal issues I’ve had for many many years but have only just been discovered & diagnosed because of a different issue needing an X-ray, one of which I was born with so it was present when I applied just undiagnosed0

Thankyou so much! I struggle with BPD so my anxiety is extremely severe; it’s going into overdrive currently!Hannah_Scope said:@ccollo21 Keeping my fingers crossed for you for Wednesday!

The diagnosis may help explain the underlying reason that causes your difficulties so it's not a case of rejecting the diagnosis. What they have to look at however is the difficulties you had at the time of the decision being considered so if your difficulties have increased since the decision that increase will not be taken into account.ccollo21 said: So even though the tribunal have accepted the new diagnosis (multiple spinal issues) and DWP haven’t objected it (they responded to it just saying it hasn’t made them change their decision- but they never dismissed it or objected to it) at tribunal it could be disregarded?0 -
Oh I'm so sorry @ccollo21
I have anxiety so I tend to do listen to headspace, do puzzle books or watch a comfort film / tv show. Do you have something that helps? or is able to keep your mind off it?0 -

No, i never said they may disregard it. I said it's not about a diagnosis, which doesn't mean they will disregard it.

Hi all
just an update- I had my tribunal at 2pm so just over an hour ago, within 20 mins and only 2 questions it was over. They ended the call and rang me back with decision- enhanced on both until 2026 (originally only standard daily living until 2025 so extended too!!) ❤️
thankyou for all of your help, advise and well wishes!5 -
Woohoo! That's great news @ccollo21
