PIP backpay has gone to debt management

I'm hoping someone can give me a bit of advise, I recieved my increase on PIP about 3weeks ago and I am due a lump sum back payment. I have been informed by PIP that this has gone to debt management, but the only thing I owe is £500 from a budgeting loan. My question is it was sent to debt management 2 weeks ago, how long will it possibly take to clear. Thankyou for taking your time to read this.

Hello @naelliott
I found a page on Benefit overpayment recovery on the GOV website, but there isn't anything specific about a time frame for repayments from a lump sum. I would contact them and ask0 -
I've heard of people waiting between 4 and 12 weeks when sent to Debt Management. It's odd for them to take a Budgeting Loan Debt from PIP, do you get still get ESA/UC? If not that might be why. If you do the BL debt is usually deducted from your ESA/UC payment and in that case they don't deduct from PIP because you signed an agreement when you accepted loan to allow an amount to be deducted every week from ESA. As long as you keep claiming and paying the weekly amount ESA then they would be breaching the agreement by taking it from PIP backpay. My husband tried to pay back a BL from PIP backpay and was refused because it was being taken from ESA.0
