Morning all, I was born with congenital cataracts, 15 years ago developed glaucoma and now have macular degeneration. My sight is gradually getting worse and in past 15 months I haven’t really left the house. I have a guide cane, hate it and it jars on pavement cracks causing hand and arm pain. How’s everyone else managing? 🤗

Hi and welcome to the community

I am severely vision impaired blind in one eye and limited vision in other I am also in a wheelchair I have tried a cane but impossible to negotiate a wheelchair and cane together

I now only go out escorted as I can no longer see well enough to use my electric chair

I did try a cane with a ball on the end which was bit better and you nay find useful

I find my sight loss tye most disabling of my conditions so totally empathise with you

I did get a lot of good tips from my local sensory team who also helped me navigate outside and follow a journey but my sight has got worse since then bur it could help you if you get in touch with them through your local council
