My PIP Process

Hello everyone,
I've been following this community whilst going through my PIP application, and I found it very useful. THANK YOU all for your comments, they really helped me.
My PIP process and experience goes something along these lines...
Back on Monday 19th December 2022, I called the new claims line and started my registration. The call took about 15-20mins and seemed ok.
They sent me out the application form, and requested it returned by 19th January 2023. Due to the postal strike, I didn't actually receive the form until the 6th January 2023, so not much time to fill it in.
When I sent the How Your Disability form back (Royal Mail, Signed For) on the 16th January 2023, I included the following evidence.
I received a text message from the assessment centre on 19th January 2023, saying that the form and evidence had been received.
On the 1st February, I sent another letter from my GP as evidence.and again relied a message saying it was received.
On the 8th February 2023, I revived a letter with an appitnemt date and time, but I called them to ask for the call to be recorded and that I would like to speak with a Male Health Professional. Unfortunately the date and time needed to be changed to 4 days later.
I had my assessment on the 21st February, which lasted for 1hr 48mins.
The call was recorded and the HP was male and very nice and seemed to listen, he was kind and understanding. The process of the call was embarrassing, humiliating and degrading, but it had to be done, so he could do his job.
I received a text message on 23rd February 2023 at 8am, saying the the DWP had received the report.
I called the assessment centre on the 27th February and asked for a copy of my report, which they sent out straight away. I received it the next day.
The report went in my favour with both parts at the enhanced rate.
On Wednesday 1st March, I received a text message from the DWP saying that I have been awarded PIP.
I called them the same day for clarification and during the call, they told me when I will receive the back pay (in 4 days) and when my payments will start and how much.
She told me that a letter had been sent out and I'm yet to receive the letter.
I just wanted to let all the people who worry (like I did) about this process know, that it's not all bad news. Just be as honest and as open as possible and they will listen. Give them all (and more) the information they need so they can do their job and they will help.
And try not to get worried or stressed...
Thank you again for all the support on this site and I wish all the newbies the best of luck with your application process.

Well Done, great result.
The only thing I would add is that, some people would have done the same, but with a 'different' outcome. I agree that 'worrying' won't achieve anything.2 -
Thank you Rebel, that's kind of you.
The worrying part is nearly as bad as the assessment, emotionally and mentally draining. I just want anyone else who goes through this application, too realise it's not always as bad as we think it could be. There are many happy endings which aren't always posted on here and to remind them to stay positive.
My Top Tips...
Ask for a recording if it's a phone assessment.
Ask for a same sex health professional - I felt much more comfortable talking to a dude.
Be honest and open.
Good luck all1 -
Thanks for sharing these uplifting messages and tips with the community @Jack121. I am sure this will be really invaluable for anyone experiencing anything similar1
