Hello could anyone help please. My pip was renewed on 23 February and because I got awarded a higher rate this time its gone to the payment department. Does anyone know how long it takes for a back payment to be processed please? Thank you.

Hello @mary76
Welcome to the community! How are you today?
I've seen a lot of people say 3-5 days, have you had a letter from DWP explaining your new award? They may have the dates on there for you?1 -
Hi thank you for the welcome. My pip renewal was backdated to April 2022 upgraded to a higher rate and they made that decision on 24 February 2023 I've had my letter saying basically its gone to the payment department but still no payment. I've also seen people saying payment is usually quicker than the letter so I'm confused.0

That is confusing, if you haven't heard anything by tomorrow then I'd give PIP a ring to double check0

OK I will do thank you for your help0

Do you have any debt, sometimes that can delay backpay0
-
I do with council tax yes.0

It's usually only DWP debt that is affected like budgeting loans or advance payments or overpayments. If you don't have those then I don't understand the delay. Ring them in the morning.0
