Terminal diagnosis.

Hi. I am a sole carer for my disabled son. I have a terminal illness which is reasonably short. There are no other family connections. Does anyone have similar experiences. I need to be able to leave my estate to best care for him when I am not here. Does anyone have any support and advice? Thank you.

Hi trewargas
Welcome to Scope Online.
It's very sad to hear that news, hopefully the doctors are wrong with their diagnosis, which has been known. Keep thinking positively. What you can consider doing is set up a Disabled Trust Fund - there is criteria which needs to be met.

Hello @trewargas and a warm welcome to our online community.
I'm so sorry it's under these circumstances that you found us, I really do hope we can help. How are you getting on? Are you receiving good support and care to help you with your diagnosis?
Scope have an advice page about Will trusts that you can read for more information. And, I'd encourage you to contact a local law centre in the first instance, to get their specialist knowledge about the best route for you and your son. Advice Local is also a good resource for finding trustworthy organisations close to where you live.
We are here should you have any more questions or fancy a chat anytime. Sending lots of virtual support your way. Take care.0 -
Hi @trewargas welcome and I'm so sorry to read about your dilemma. Have you put plans in place for your son through a solicitor maybe or a trust.
