UC and Carer’s Allowance
Hi,
Can anyone offer any advice re Carer’s Allowance and UC please?
My partner receives Carer’s Allowance as part of our joint claim, however he did some trial work recently which took him over the threshold for receiving Carer’s Allowance.
We’ve just received our UC statement for this month which has deducted the Carer’s Allowance as normal, however we might not receive Carer’s Allowance when it is due, meaning we will be down by around £300. Surely this is incorrect as UC only deduct CA when you’re entitled to and are paid CA. If my partner isn’t entitled to CA because of his earnings this month, then surely UC should be increased by that amount to level it back out again?
Hopefully someone can offer some advice 🙏

Carer’s Allowance will have only suspended the claim hence the deduction, UC also take account of all income earned during your AP. He needs to contact CA and ask them to remove him from their system.
Does he receive Carer’s Element?0 -
The probably is that UC will not be told by CA that the claim has been suspended and they will therefore assume he has received it. If he is likely to go in and out of CA it will be easier just to cancel the CA, even will still be entitled to carer element of UC.0

They should not deduct CA that was not received.0

The problem is they pay UC on 16th March and CA is paid around 2nd April. Not sure if that makes a difference?0

I'm afraid I'm not sure @7501x this isn't my area of expertise, I hope cancelling the CA goes smoothly for you!0
