Backdated SSP

Hi, I have been off work since 5th January, and have obtained Fitness to Work notes from my GP, which I have sent to my supervisor. I wasn't sure if I was entitled to SSP (I haven't received any to date) so I contacted payroll to find out if I was, and I am.
Thing is, they haven't received any of my sick notes. I have forwarded on my copies.
Will the amount be backdated from January? I've tried googling it, but am none the wiser.
Thank you.

They should pay you SSP from when you reported your health. You should check your employment contract to see if you are only entitled to SSP or any additional contractional sick pay.

You should also use a benefits calculator to check if you could be entitled to any Universal Credit.

Thank you. I've asked payroll and I am entitled to SSP. They just haven't received my sick notes (I have no idea why my supervisor hasn't sent them on).
I will chase them on Monday.
    Thanks again.
