If you were to build a house, What is a non essential must have?

I love home renovation shows and often dream about what I would have if I could build my own home, finances not and issue.
I think there are many necessities we all would style a different way, but what would be a non-essential must have for you?
Mine would be Georgian sash style windows. I think they look great and I can imagine having a window seat in front of some of them, so I could have a reading nook.

The second floor must completely overlook the living area with a balcony. I find this look extremely homely. A completely detached house so don't have to worry about noise.2

Downstairs loo.3

No neighbours, lots of land, character property with history3

This might not be what you mean as I think you're thinking about architectural features....
Our house is a 70s, characterless concrete box..... 😂 No beams.. Or mezzanine floor....
But I (and my husband!) dreamt of musical instruments... Book shelves... Aquariums and many many plants......
When I had to finish work Santa helped us get a fish tank. Thanks to ebay we have 4 now and I love them so much. I gained my childhood piano and my husband enjoys buying music, film and books that thanks to IKEA shelves lines and insulates our 70s box house.
Oooooh! And I always wanted fairy lights... The LEDs are so cheap to run. We buy some each January in the sale.
And also I love my little gardens.
I spend so much more time at home now, no longer just a place to sleep and eat in before and after work....
So this is a great thread! Love Reading your ideas.
I'd maybe make one wall of my fantasy house a massive fish tank covered in plants....4 -
Toilet and washbasin @Hannah_Scope. We do have that now but, for many years we just had an upstairs loo. Can't imagine life without a downstairs loo now1

Nice size bungalow with grounds big enough to have 2 large fishing lakes in them with islands ,cabins with trees surrounding.2

I'd go for a huge bay window, for the Christmas tree.
And, similar to that already mentioned, a very large aquarium wall as a room divider, tropical marine would be colourful & calming.

I'd actually go for a rotating house, with solar power, that follows the sun.
Also has a launch pad, so if 'oblivion' happens then the house will rocket into space and be the first to greet aliens.

A swimming pool even though I don't like swimming I really fancy a swimming pool.1

My neighbour (newish) has got one, not one he wants, he's building an extension, he's got some chaps to dig up the ground for foundations, they've dug up a ****, maybe a meter, removed the soil, it's half filled with water. Haven't seen the chaps for 2 days.durhamjaide2001 said:A swimming pool even though I don't like swimming I really fancy a swimming pool.

You could just lounge next to it with a cocktail in each hand @durhamjaide2001
Weather permitting of course.2
