Gardens

We are looking at having the Garden adapted for us to spend time with us as a family. (Son has Cp and wheelchair bound).
Has Anyone arranged for charity help and which ones to contact? or know the process for getting help to have work done?
Our garden is all but useless to us. It's a new build garden which basically has turf rolled on the top and forgotten about. There's a slab path to the shed and back gate and that's it. It's just a grass slope from the fence to the house and heavy clay under 3 inch of top soil. I am not a natural Gardner or DIY enthusiast so it's well out of my comfort zone.

Hello @PhilG111 and thanks for reaching out, I also have CP and am a wheelchair user. What would your garden ideally look like after any changes?

Scope has lots of information on finding support for adaptions to the home, but not the garden. Does your son have an OT at all? Perhaps you could have a chat with them about possible options?

Otherwise, you are welcome to speak to one of our advisers directly, by phone or email at the Scope Helpline, to talk things through.

If there's anything else we can do to help, please ask :)

What it will look like is anybodys guess tbh. We are waiting for the House to be Adapted Currently, so we will no more on the amount of space available. We are hoping that they maybe able to fit another room to the house as well as go upwards into the attic.
Probably having a ramp along the edge of the shed leading to a level platform behind the shed big enough for all of us to sit outside, particularly during nice weather. probably With an Electric Hookup for an outside lamp . The Wife would like to put a Wheelchair Swing there as well in the Garden. But in order todo this it will potentially mean that the Garden will have to be levelled somewhat.

I see @PhilG111 that all makes sense, thanks for explaining. A wheelchair swing sounds amazing, a bit of work to put in though, as you say.

I wonder if you could make enquiries with any local gardeners or landscapers, perhaps ask if your local authority has a directory you could search?
