Hi, suffering severe mental health issues for the last few years & had a pip assessment on Feb 27th - had a random call in March 10th asking if I can handle a lump sum were I to be awarded pip - how many others have had this call that says no decision made but can you handle a lump sum?
All the very best

Hi and welcome to the community
This is a normal call they make to ensure there wouldn't be an issue with managing a lump sum2 -
This is common call to people that have a vulnerability marker on their PIP claim, it usually means you been awarded at least £2000 backpay.3

Thanks, the call was just an odd thing in my opinion to say no decision has been made but can you handle a lump sum - rather gaslighting language. Cheers for the reply.2

Hi all, thanks for your support & as a heads up of how my PIP application went from first call to receiving first payment it went as follows.
Jan 18th 2023 - called PIP saying I wanted to apply & also filled in the online application process that day.
14th February 2023 - received a text informing me that my phone assessment was to be carried out on February 27th 2023 at 12,30pm.
The assessor called promptly on time on the 27th February 2023
3rd march 2023 - I received a text saying the DWP had received my written assessment & that a decision should be made within 8 weeks.
10th march 2023 - I received a call from the DWP saying no decision was made yet regarding my PIP assessment BUT theoretically could I manage a large lump sum were i successful in my application for PIP
14th march 2023 I received a text saying I had been awarded PIP & that the covering letter would arrive within two weeks.
17th march 2023 - full lump sum backdated to January 18th 2023 arrived in my bank.6 -
Hello @Aznarder and thank you for that timeline.
It sounds like you've had a relatively quick timeline from the point of making a claim, to your award and receiving back pay, I hope it helps make life easier for you.

Ha, @Aznarder - the last part of your response made me chuckle. Glad to hear you feel people are generally having quick turnovers of the PIP process though1
