Anyone have experience of a PIP assessment being recorded and of a non-recorded one?

I have previously requested a review, back in January, for a change in circumstances as my conditions have worsened and more importantly I finally had evidence to back this up. I received a text from the Independent Assessment Services this morning informing me of an upcoming video consultation. Based on advice and past experiences with PIP assessments I phoned and requested that the appointment be recorded. They have had to change the appointment to a specific recorded phone appointment, as they don't have the facilities to record a video consultation, and I have to await a new appointment date and time.

I am worried now if I should have requested it to be recorded, as won't it now be more difficult putting across my situation on the phone as opposed to a video? Also does anyone have experience of an assessment being recorded and of a non-recorded one, do the assessors treat you nicer or behave differently when recorded? I feel like I had to request the appointment be recorded because in every assessment previously, whomever has done the assessment has completely lied about what I have said in response to questions. Naive me believes this won't happen if the consultation is recorded.

Hello @CorriC and welcome to our online community, how are you doing?

Although it might not be easy based on your previous experiences, I'd try not to worry too much at this time. That the assessment will be recorded shouldn't impact how the assessor treats you. Ideally they should uphold the same standard irrespective. Whilst, perhaps write down the key points you want to convey in relation to your ability to fulfil the PIP activities (maybe have examples in your head, to describe how your condition impacts you) to be as prepared as you can.

I've amended the title of your thread to help others spot it more easily and respond, and wish you lots of luck. Please do ask away with any other questions you might have.

    Have a lovely weekend :)
