Extending A Pip Claim

Morning everyone I’m just looking to see if I can get some help, so my pip award is up next January 24’ I think I had it from may 21 until January 24 which is not even 3 yrs. I have enhanced mobility and I ordered a car back in July 21 but due to Covid didn’t actually pick it up until may 22. When I went to pick the car there wasn’t that exact one in the showroom due to shortages, but I thought it would be fine it looked nice and big on the pictures. Anyway so from the time I’ve had it until now I have struggled quite bad tbh it is quite a low car to get into the seats are not good for me as I’m a larger lady there very narrow. There’s a few issues I have with it also I can’t fit my wheelchair in the boot too. So I’ve been looking into things as much as I can with regards to hopefully changing cars and it didn’t seem to be that much of a problem until I came across ’you have to have at least 12 months remaining on your award’ to be able to take out a new vehicle. The current vehicle I have is not due to go back until May 25 even though my current award runs out in 10 months. Is there anybody that has been in this situation or knows if I can extend my award for another few months so it’s over the 12 month threshold please. Thankyou 🙂

You won't be able to just extend your award in this way. During a review if a decision hasn't been made closer to them time your award is due to end, it will automatically be extended.
For this reason sadly you will need to wait before you can return your exisiting vehicle and place another order. The reason why your vehicle is for 3 years is because leases are for minimum 3 or 5 years (for WAVs), though they can be extended for longer or indeed cancelled to return the vehicle before the term ends.
