road tax exemption

For road tax exemption, you need a certificate not a statement - even though the 2 are identical apart from the magic word "certificate"
took me an hour on the phone waiting to get through - then less than a minute to ask for the certificate - might be an idea to issue certificates only and not bother with the statement
A request section on the website seems an obvious solution - might speed up response times and avoid lengthy waits on the phone and free up time for the operator.
I am tempted to make an FOI request to ask how many operators there are on any one day

Hi and welcome to the community
Email communication would be good but then they would need people yo monitor them and respond so wouldn't really help resources it would however help claimants nor having to be on hold for ages0 -
Thanks for sharing this @Aberdaron, I'm sorry it took so long to get through. To help everyone share their thoughts I've edited the title of your post and popped it over into our transport and travel category.
I hope you enjoy spending time on the forum Please ask if you need anything!0 -
OK - skip the email access but make it easy to get frequently needed documents - It took me 5 mins to get a download copy of my MOT - could that not be the same for a PIP certificate?1

..or if you want to call perhaps DWP might ask why you want the document - I had no idea that the certificate differed from the statement nor that they were used for differing purposes, and I had researched the website - nothing like ".. be warned - you need a certificate not a statement for vehicle tax exemption claims " - simple?
I am disabled so it was a major expedition to get to the Post office1 -
It does say on the Gov.uk website that it’s the certificate of entitlement you need. See link https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1143399/ins216-how-to-apply-for-free-disabled-tax-pdf.pdf
better information and easier to understand here https://www.disabledmotoring.org/motoring/road-tax-exemption
The letter of entitlement (award letter) is only needed for 50% reduction.2
